Inactividad física y sedentarismo en la población española

Resumen

En el siguiente trabajo se hace una revisión narrativa sobre dos de los factores de riesgo de enfermedades no transmisibles: el sedentarismo y la inactividad física. El artículo pretende hacer una reflexión sobre las definiciones de ambos términos, pero también ofrecer una visión amplia acerca de la falta de movimiento, exponiendo las consecuencias, así como las cifras alarmantes de prevalencia en España. El 5% de la población mundial se muere debido a la inactividad física, y es que es un factor de riesgo para enfermedades tales como cánceres, obesidad, diabetes, hipertensión, retinopatía diabética, Alzheimer, depresión, etc. Es por esto puede suponer una catástrofe para el sistema sanitario español que cuatro de cada diez españoles se declaren sedentarios. Sin embargo, las intervenciones estratégicas para disminuir el comportamiento sedentario y aumentar los niveles de actividad física serán determinantes. Por eso, en este estudio también se recopilan los resultados de algunas de ellas.
